This course was developed from the National Institute on Aging report which discusses how Alzheimer's Disease affects the brain, the main characteristics and causes of the disease along with how it is diagnosed and treated. In addition, the report also looks at the prevalence, biology, and genetics of Alzheimer's Disease, along with the risk factors for cognitive decline and dementia. Treatments and advances in detection of the disease are also covered. Finally, the report addresses caring for people with Alzheimer's Disease.
CEU Course Objectives
1. Become familiar with the drugs used to treat Alzheimer's Disease and how they work.
2. Identify the order in which tangles appear in the brain.
3. Understand how multitasking affects working memory.
4. Review which allele increases the risk for Alzheimer's disease.
